There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed So Many Different Things!

With Easter coming up this weekend, I thought it would be fun to share some books with a Spring theme. The classic book rhyming book about the old lady who swallowed a fly has been adapted in so many different ways. There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Chick by Lucille Colandra highlights the antics of this crazy lady devouring all sorts of pastel-coloured things that no one should eat, except for the chocolate!

Of course, this book lends itself so well to all sorts of fun Easter traditions and the celebration of the end of winter. With the COVID-19 Social Distancing order, I have kept things simple.

  1. Dye a few hardboiled eggs with food coloring to enjoy for breakfast, with pastel-coloured pancakes made with food coloring.
  2. Don’t miss the morning Easter Egg hunt!
  3. Watch movies like Peter Rabbit, or Hop as a family
  4. Learn how to dance the Bunny Hop for some great giggles!
  5. Make these adorable sock bunnies, that I found on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giqTWcq6nFk
  6. I wonder if writing a story: There Was An Old Bunny Who…

As I was creating and gathering these ideas, I came across so many different versions of this story. I am sure there is one for every month of the year!  Enjoy! Send me some pictures of your sock bunnies or an illustrated copy of your story, please.
